The Aunt Sponge half mask reflects the lazy, gluttonous and selfish woman that she is. She shares equally with her sister in her joy of torturing James. Sponge plays a good game of support for her sister but in the end acts only in her own self interest.
This half mask is one of disdain and has become a favorite in the classroom. Sponge loves to hate things.
Aunt Sponge: I look and smell, I do declare, as lovely as a rose. Just feast your eyes upon my face, observe my shapely nose. Behold my heavenly silky locks, and if I take off both my socks, you’ll see my dainty toes.
Aunt Spiker: But don’t forget, my dearest Sponge, how much your tummy shows.
