The play Medea is based on the myth Jason and Medea and was first produced in 431 BC. The story is one of struggle and vengeance. Medea, to maintain power takes her revenge on Jason after he leaves her for the Princess of Corinth. She Kills his new wife, her father and her own children and then escapes to Athens to live out her life.
