Red Death Mask

The Red Death Mask was created for a production of Phantom of the Opera produced in France. To quote Edgar Allan Poe “The mask of the Red Death had long devastated the country. No pestilence had ever been so fatal or so hideous.”

As the story goes Prince Prospero and all 70o of his guests fall victim to the Spector of Red death who stole their lives one by one like a thief in the night.

This mask has been made in two parts.  The top part straps around the back of the head and the jaw straps with an elastic over the top of the head so that when the performer speaks or sings the movable jaw slides up and down to allow sound to project through the mask.

The mask is made out of neoprene with a double layer of fiberglass screen covering the exaggerated eye openings.
