Beast Mask

This Beauty and the Beast mask was created for a client many years ago. It is the combination of a dog, a dragon and wolf. It is a different depiction of the beast from this classic French Fairy Tale than either the Disney version or the television series. As is the case with all things from the studio originality and imagination are the focus when creating theatre masks for performance.

The current story of Beauty and the Beast (La Bell et la Bete) is a fairy tale written out by French novelist Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve. It was first published in 1740. Although many versions have existed since its publishing the story itself originated around 4000 years ago.

The mask can have different types of hair, either a wig, raffia or feathers attached. The hair completes the mask as a head piece and creates more beast like presence for the actor.
